We've had a busy couple of weeks around here. Blogging has been the last thing on my mind, but I understand inquiring minds "need to know what we're doing", so here goes! RJ had a great birthday weekend. He wanted a party at Chuck E Cheese, so reluctantly, we busted out the hazmat suits and did it. He had a blast, and it was by far the easiest party I've ever done. No prep, no cooking, no clean-up! The next day my mom and I surprised him with a day trip to Disney. It was very cute, the boys were sitting on the living room floor Sunday morning when my mom and I looked at each other and said, "hey, let's go to Disney!" The boys nearly fell over with joy and we were on the road an hour later. We had a great day, RJ rode Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain for the first time. He loved them, and loved even better that he was tall enough to skate through the line. We thought because it was Labor Day weekend it would be busy, but we were pleasantly surprised and got on a ton of rides in a record amount of time and no one melted down or flipped out (by no one, I mean me:) My mom may disagree on that one. On Monday RJ had yet another party hosted by G's and Paul. We swam, ate and had a blast all day with the family. I think turning four was an event RJ won't forget any time soon.
Jackson is still loving school. We went to Back to School night the other night and he didn't want to leave. He loves his teacher, loves his classmates, and has just discovered school lunch. We go over the menu the night before and he decides whether or not he wants to buy it or bring his lunchbox. He's becoming more and more comfortable with the size of the school (big!) and getting around it without getting lost. He calls the kids on the safety patrol "the green belts", and knows if anything happens they can help him. The last couple of weeks they've been doing reading assessments to divide the kids into reading groups. They will be done by the end of the month, it will be interesting to see where Jackson fits into that since he is a pretty fluent reader.
That's all for now, I am up before everyone and need to enjoy my coffee and watch last night's season premiere of the new SURVIVOR!! Finally, something good on TV.
