The last few weekends were a bit nuts and I think we were happy to stay local and low-key this weekend. We didn't do much at all. Of course our life wouldn't be our life if one of the kids wasn't battling some sort of funk, and this weekend it seems as if Jackson is struggling with some ear pain. If I know Jackson, it's most likely an ear infection that will require a visit to Tappan and a round of antibiotics. I was telling Ray that when I was little, I would get an occasional earache and my mom would just give me a heating pad and some Tylenol (if I was lucky) and it would eventually go away. There were no runs to the pediatrician for an antiobiotic. I wonder what would happen if we didn't give him an antibiotic. As a matter of fact, I'm sick of giving my kids antibiotics. No, I'm not gonna become one of those weird anti-drug, anti-vaccination parents but I think sometimes we should just get back to basics and let a kid be sick. Am I out of line? We'll see how the night goes...
We went to play tennis this morning. Sadly, the boys are better than Ray and I but only because we're so busy teaching them to play that we never get to. It's kind of a new sport for us, and we haven't had that much of a chance to play without the boys but so far all four of us love it:) After tennis we went to the home of one of Ray's customers who has a cattle farm. The boys have never really been to a farm before, so this was something new to them. There was a 2-day old calf there, and he was the cutest thing. They didn't understand how he was walking already. We fed the cows some grapefruits. Apparently cows feel about grapefruits the way I feel about chocolate. All in all a fun experience, but the lovebugs started to work my nerves after awhile. No lovebugs in Jersey...
While getting dinner ready tonight the power went out. It was out for about 45 minutes. Even 45 minutes without A/C and TV weirded me out. Again, if we could learn how to get back to basics a little more, that time would've been a breeze. I was actually worried about our food in the fridge and freezer but Ray assured me we needn't worry that soon. When the power came back on, RJ said, "Jesus does love us, that's why the power's back." Love him.
It's 8:04pm, the boys are in bed and we just put on Slumdog Millionaire. Two more weeks of school...
