...weeks, that is. Life is flying right by me, and I'm too busy to notice. And I don't like it at all. I can't remember longing for spring break so much, even when I was in college. One of my colleagues pointed out today that there are only 10 weeks left of school, so I know I'm not alone in my weariness. The kids are antsy too, it's like they know...
Jackson is officially registered for Kindergarten. We took him to Kindergarten Roundup last night at the "big school". All four of us went, and were all a tad overwhelmed at the size of the school. It's not Brandon Montessori, but he is so excited nonetheless. We got to meet all the teachers and the principal and vice principal, and even the school nurse. I have struggled over the last few months on whether this is the right decision or not, but I think my questions were answered last night when I saw Jackson at the school. I think he is ready to move on. I think he is ready for the separation from RJ and me. Most of his friends will also be moving on to the same school, and if I can find the time to have the emotional breakdown I deserve, I think we'll all be just fine. Yes, I am having a hard time with this. The little baby boy I had yesterday is turning five in less than a month, and he's going to "big school" and leaving me. Did I mention Kindergarten has a kitchen? Like, a real kitchen...mine didn't.
RJ continues to do well at BMS. He is making his own friends and trying to steer clear of Jackson's. There are a few kids that like both Jackson and RJ. Apparently that isn't allowed, so the friends must choose-Jackson or RJ. He has already excelled at writing his name-all two letters of it. Today he asked why Ms. Beth spells his name "R polka dot J polka dot". I told him I wasn't sure why but I'd ask her.
There is a section of the Tampa Tribune that talks about local and small businesses around the area, it's called Brandon People. Ray and his business were featured in it this month, and I'm very proud of him. He and my brother in law, Paul, work very hard. They genuinely care about their work and their employees, and most of all their customers. Ray is very much a "people person", and even though he's very quiet, he's ever so sincere and extremely likeable. I may be biased, but I can't think of anyone who deserves a little spotlight more than him. You go, Babe. And you too, Paul.
Not sure yet what the weekend holds. But I know we don't have to do anything. I'd love to go to the beach, and I believe we are attending a neighborhood St.Patty's Day party tomorrow night. Ray is a tad under the weather. The allergies are getting to everyone in the family. There were no allergies in Jersey. Everyone was happy and healthy breathing in the pollution. I guess it's a give and take-gorgeous weather but you're gonna be sneezing and coughing and blowing your nose plenty from September to April. Thank God for Singulair and Zyrtec.
